Boys are born whole, attuned to themselves and to others, but then, as early as five, they learn to trade pieces of their humanity for social currency, leading to many of the problems making headlines today.

Build Up Boys (BUB) works with boys in their early years, before these problems take root, giving them the skills and tools they need to retain their innate emotional intelligence. Because the men we want in the world aren’t men we have to construct from nothing; they are boys we have not dismantled.

Since our launch in 2024, we have reached 500 boys, including those at South Mountain YMCA’s Beyond the Bell program, at Maplewood’s Seth Boyden Elementary School, and at the Boys and Girls Club of Newark. Our ultimate goal is to roll this out nationwide.

Join us on November 22nd to meet our founder, Kimmi Berlin, our program director, Shawn Williams, and the mother of a boy who went through our program. You'll learn about our mission, our program’s impact, and how you can help build a better boyhood for a safer world.
